At Glazpart we are hoping you will be able to help us raise funds for Enrych, by donating an auction or raffle prize, so we can help more people with physical disabilities to enjoy the things that able bodied people take for granted. You must be inundated with requests, but if you could offer something to auction, or your firm would like to sponsor a tee, green or even enter a team we would be very grateful.
Enrych Oxfordshire, Formerly Ryder Cheshire Volunteers founded by Sue Ryder & Leonard Cheshire, enable people with physical disabilities to pursue a hobby or interest with a trained dedicated volunteer. Having the support of a volunteer to share a hobby and confide in, will enhance a disabled person’s life and help them to become integrated into the local community. This support can prevent the isolation that often comes with a disability and may also help to avoid or overcome depression.
Michelle, whose kidneys failed, as did her transplant, spends much of her time at The Churchill Hospital having dialysis. She used to attend Oxford United Football matches with her mother. When her 80 year old mother could no longer take her, she thought she would not be able to continue this interest. She became depressed. Her doctor had heard of Enrych and the work they do with physically disabled people and referred Michelle. She was introduced to her volunteer Kay who takes her to matches every week. Michelle said, “Kay has given me my life back and has become a friend.”
ENRYCH Oxfordshire will use 100% of the money raised from this golf day to recruit and train volunteers to support people with physical disabilities.
